Trip Summary

Couples trip to the amazing Hamilton Island, Whitsunday Islands

Best Bits

Everything!

Worst Bits

We nearly missed our ferry - but that was our delay with the hire car. Nothing to fault.

Trip Dates and Comments on Timing

November — Hamilton Island weather is rarely bad!

Arrival Logistics

After some time traveling down the coast of Queensland we landed in Airlie beach to continue on to Hamilton Island, Whitsundays. Our overall holiday was a couple of weeks - and this was the highlight!

General Route

A day trip to the Great Barrier Reef and another day trip to Whitehaven beach - heaven on earth! Both guided tours with Explore Group. We recommend them. The other days were spent exploring the island: hiking, sunset chasing, water sports with a lot of eating, relaxing and cocktails by the pool too!

Main Activities

Yoga, watersports, bars, hiking, beaches, sailing, relaxing, sport and exercise, snorkelling.

Food and Drink Highlights

A Mexican place had recently opened up on the main strip. My partner and I also enjoyed an Italian dinner at Romano’s. Cocktails and oysters were great at Manta Ray - they’re popular for their pizzas. Beach Club is good for lunch. My man took me for a date at Coca Chu. Their food and view was a highlight.

Essential Packing for this Trip

We brought our own snorkel masks for the Great Barrier Reef - rather than hire out public mask! If you want to hike, some walking shoes - if you want to relax, thongs. Sunscreen and other beach items.
